OBE Informed Solutions
因此, common sense suggests that leveraging SMEs and 扩大 businesses is key to the UK’s prosperity, 增长, 经济恢复力, 全球竞争力.
If we shape great policy that builds great businesses then we also shape an economy that encourages and 激励 UK entrepreneurs, SMEs and 扩大 companies to build the successful small businesses that are an important part of our 当地社区, 这就变成了中型的, 未来的大企业和出口商. Great policy that encourages SMEs to invest and grow will create skilled employment opportunities across 当地社区; businesses that more willingly adopt technology and better train their staff; and stronger more globally 有竞争力的 industries across our regions. Great businesses also tend to give back to the communities from which they grow.
There is a very real ‘Valley of Death’ for companies that are disproportionately burdened by government regulations and unnecessarily difficult or complex trading conditions. Businesses have not yet finished navigating through the long and sustained period of financial, 健康, energy and economic challenges that started with the global financial crisis of 2008.
I am faithful to the concept that common sense should have no colour when it comes to matters of business and the economy. 增加成本, bureaucracy and increasing burdensome regulations will be enormously detrimental to the recovery and 增长 of UK businesses, 因此对我们的经济也是如此.
Great policy balances the harsh realities and hard work of running and 扩展 up a company with incentives that encourage ambition, 投资, 冒险和毅力. This is especially important in key sectors, which often require significant 投资 in R&D, 高价值技能和能力发展, 随着业务的增长,监管合规的负担也越来越重.
作为领导者, 我相信“什么对蜂巢有好处”的原则, 对蜜蜂和我们人类都是一个大蜂巢的一部分有好处吗, evidenced independently with a 97% rating in “Great Places to Work” – being in the top 1% of employers globally. I offer these opinions based on considerable lived experience as an entrepreneur which started, built and grew their business internationally over 30+ years and 4 UK governments of different colours.
我特别希望看到大胆, 进步 government policy that 激励 companies to recruit and build skills (competent, 自信, better paid staff); adopt digital capabilities (more productive, 扩大 ready businesses); demonstrate responsible and sustainable business practices (because ethics and behaviours matter) that create social value as well as economic value; and grow businesses into international markets to increase the UK’s global 有竞争力的ness.
同样重要的是, 我们需要建立更广泛的, stronger and more 有弹性的 economic foundations for sustainable development and 增长. 这意味着, 鼓励企业家, 投资者和扩大规模的企业,以填补“缺失的中间”.e. we need more small companies to successfully grow into mid-sized 和大 businesses.
